Sleeping on the job

This is what happens when you jump too much.
You fall asleep at the wheel and loose your socks and miss everything thats going on around you!

And this is a bonus freebie pic of when we are awake and trying disparately to get away from dad

A tisket, A tasket, Joy made a basket…

I made a basket this week and am quite proud of myself smile  It’s not perfect and I got lots of help, but here is the finished product.  I’m going to give it to my grandmother this weekend!  I enjoyed making the basket, despite the stress, and may begin making them now.  I’m no Longaberger, but it might be fun smile

Note, mine is the light colored one.  The dark colored one was my model.

It’s snowing buckets

We’re under a winter storm warning and are out of school today.  Stu is working from home today, and it doesn’t look like we’ll be going anywhere anytime soon.  We’ve got about four or five inches so far and now we’re supposed to get ice on top of it.

Looks like it’s going to be a cold few days. It’s supposed to stop tonight, so our weekend plans shouldn’t change once tomorrow comes.  We’ll be heading up to Harrisonburg tomorrow and my sister and her family will be heading down. This will be the first time since my grandfather passed away that we’ll all be together and JJ and Charles weren’t at the funeral so it will be the first time they’re home.  We’ll spend Saturday and Sunday together and go to church to support my parents and Nan-Nan who will have their first time in the church since Pa-Pa died.  I think it will be a nice weekend with everyone together for fellowship.  I can’t wait to go up there.

Until then, though, I leave you with some photos of a bear in a duck…

Since we’ve changed sitters, I’ll post a photo of the new sitter, Morgan, and her children, Nicholas and Natalie.

Geneva is another girl that is there.  She’s the same age as Nicholas (7) and when they get home from school they like to play outside.  Today they’re playing in the snow!

And here are some more photos….are you ready?

We’re back…

Hello all.

It’s been awhile since we wrote.  Things have been very busy here.  My grandfather passed away on January 3rd so we were up in Harrisonburg for about a week just being with family and helping around my parents house and my grandparents house.  We’re all getting by, though it’s definitely hard.  Thinking back, I guess it was two weeks ago today, at about this time (noon) that he passed away.  My grandmother, thankfully, was with him and he just fell asleep.  He had a lot of dignity in the last few days that he hadn’t had for a few months so we are all grateful.

The funeral was very nice, as far as funerals go.  Stu got to meet a Virginia Senator, Senator Hanger, who was a good friend of my grandfather’s, as well as the Mayor of Elkton (who I could have punched in the face for saying something at the viewing that I didn’t like) and the Mayor of Harrisonburg.  Pa-pa was buried next to his mother and father in Elkton and had Masonic (read FREAKY) rites at the cemetery.

Under the cut is the program passed out at his funeral, the obituary that the family wrote for him, as well as an article in the Harrisonburg paper about him.

Faces behind the bars

We put Alexander to bed last night and suddenly there is a face peering over the edge of the crib! Yes, he can now pull himself up on things, but I didnt expect him to be trying to get out of the crib. So out of bed we drag him and try and lower the crib down as low as it can go. Now we just see a little face peering out at us between the crib bars. He looks so pitiful doing that.

Now that he is stronger he crawls like a bear, on his hands and feet. I presume it wont be long until he is walking. Maybe even before 9 months of age. He is 7 months next week so I project maybe by 8 months he will be up and about! The moment that happens is the moment we start potty training.
