Well, quite a lot happened over the weekend. Stu decided on Alexander’s Christmas present. You’ll understand the perfectness of it if you know Stu at all. Stu bought Alexander a website name so he’d have it for when he gets older! Right now it just links to my site, but in a few years, I’m sure Xander Kai’s Website will be active! I’ve done quite a bit of work on my writing website, too, so take a look around if you’d like.
Today we met my family in Harrisonburg and had Alexander Dedicated. He was fuss-free through most of it, even when Pastor Basil spread oil on his head! Basil was the pastor at our wedding and was thrilled to Dedicate Alexander. It meant a lot to us! Here are a few photos from the ceremony:

After the Dedication we went back to my parents’ house for a great cookout! We also got my brother-in-law, Chuck, to take some photos of the family for Gayle and John to take home. He’s a professional photographer, so they obviously came out great. Here are just a few:

You can find all the rest of the photos, along with many others, here. The password is boygeorge.
Enjoy!

Today Alexander gets his 2 month vaccines. Today I go back to work. Can you tell this is not going to be a good day for anyone involved? I already have a headache (I just typed headacne…I hope that’s not a sign of things to come with stress…) and I’m on the verge of tears, and the little man isn’t even UP yet!
Anyway, here’s a little update:
Baby’s Name: Alexander Kai
How old is Baby now?: 9weeks, 5days
Baby’s size?: 12lbs, 14oz, 23 1/2 inches long
Baby is eating (how much/how often/new items): quite a lot! I get about a 5-6 hour break between 8pm and 2am or so, but then it’s every 1.5-3 hours. Mostly breastfeeding, supplementing maybe a bottle or two a day to get him used to formula if I can’t find time to pump (see How I’m Doing).
What is Baby up to these days?: smiling, cooing, farting, eating, farting, sleeping, smiling, farting, pooing!
Recent Milestones?: holding something if I put it in his hands.
How I’m Doing: Freakin’ freaking out. Today is my first day back at work—I’m a teacher. Not to mention, today are his 2 month vaccinations. Ugh. I really don’t know how I’m going to go back to school after his shots at 8:15!!! Also, not a clue how I’m going to pump during the day…

Hello all! We’re home from Damascus. We hiked in the Grayson Highlands for a few hours until the weather turned bad and we had to run out before getting stormed upon. After that we headed to our B&B in Damascus, the Lazy Fox. Miss Jennie is 83 years old and cooks a MEAN breakfast of eggs, bacon, sausage, cheese grits, apple crepes, baked apples, baked pineapples, fruit tray, biscuits, gravy, hot coffee, hot tea, orange juice….oh, my mouth is watering just thinking about it.
Tuesday morning we headed to the Virginia Creeper Trail—an old railroad track that’s been turned into a hiking/biking/horse trail. We got dropped off at the top of it and biked 17 miles to Damascus, stopping along the way to eat at the Creeper Trail Cafe, which had wonderful Philly subs! We even got some ice cream before Alexander decided he’d had enough of the dirt from the trail and screamed the last mile back to the bike store!
Well, that’s all from Buena Vista for now. Hope everyone’s having a wonderful time. Stu is very excited about Elmo, the chicken, whom he is getting for his birthday on Sunday!

We had a wonderful few days at one of my friends’ houses on the Chesapeake Bay. We lounged, rode boats, went over bridges, walked on beaches…basically lived the life. Alexander loved being without clothes and his appetite was HUMONGOUS! I guess what they say about beach air is true!

Tomorrow we head off to Damascus to ride the Virginia Creeper Trail, hike with the ponies, maybe do some emerald mining, and maybe heading to Virginia’s Highland Festival in Abingdon.
See you in a few days!
